From Shea we followed part of the Skyline hiking over Rattlesnake Hill and Wampatuck Hill and then cut through the Squamaugh Notch to have lunch at the Picnic tables at Chickatawbut Tower.  We returned by Cedar Rock Path to pick up the flat Indian Camp Path and the green dot trail back to Shea.  Everyone had a good time. 

WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR HIKE: Clear skies and a perfect temperature in the mid to upper 60’s.  No snow remains in the Blue Hills.

With the hills at the start this was a more challenging hike for the Thursday morning group which usually do flatter routes but everyone did fine and we took a nice long lunch to recuperate.

Loop Turn Trail to Deadmans Trail to Tower Trail to Horseshoe Trail.  Trails well marked and in good condition.  Two streams bridged.

OTHER COMMENTS (problems, views, terrain, etc.) – Most hikers climbed the fire tower with spectacular views to Boston, Fall River, Providence, and Buzzards Bay

WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR HIKE:  Partly sunny, temps in the 50’s, except at the summit, colder and very windy.

OTHER COMMENTS (problems, views, terrain, etc.)  A few icy snowy parts, but most of the trail was bare.  Leadership decided to extend original planned hike along the Pumpelly Trail to the Cascade Link Trail  to avoid the Red Spot trail due to poor trail conditions on the Red Spot.

OTHER COMMENTS (problems, views, terrain, etc.)  This intermediate-level hike was one of several offered during the SEM Chapter's "Take it Outside with the AMC" open house event. Six non-AMC hikers joined the group.  As a result of this hike one member has renewed interest in hiking by joining the Red Line Blue Hills group and another joined the Wednesday morning conditioning series.
