AMC SEM Post-Hike Trip Report  Whiteline 2-12-19 Red Dot/Big Blue Loop from Trailside Museum

TRIP LOCATION: MEETING TIME: 9:45am for 10:00am startBlue Hills, Ski slope parking closest to trailside museum at start/end of red dot trails. 1904Canton Ave., Milton.

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE SPECIFIC TRAILS HIKED AND TRAIL CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED: Ski-slope side of Trailside Museum, up red dot to Skyline, i/o between red dots on Skyline, to Weather Station, to 1030, back to 1066, down to 1083, up/down Brookwood Trail to 1062, R at Accord Path to 1003, down to 1001 and back and up to 1003, up Skyline to Eliot Circle, L at 1030 to 1055, L back down red dot to just below (West) Summit Rd., i/o of small path between 2 red dot trails (also did i/o small trail between red dots on way up to east of road but not on map) and back down to parking. Mostly dry ground with patchy ice, not requiring microspikes. 
WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR HIKE: 
Cold/damp 20's to low 30's. Overcast with snow expected. Started light snow as we descended last red dot trail, heavier by the time we reached parking lot.
OTHER COMMENTS (problems, views, terrain, etc.) None
IMPORTANT: Contact Hike Committee Chair ASAP with any medical emergencies or other serious incidents.   No incidents despite rugged terrain.

WAS TRIP WITHIN WHITE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST?  No       
BRIEFLY DESCRIBE SPECIFIC TRAILS HIKED AND TRAIL CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED: Wood Path, Wampatuck Path, Skyline, Squamaug Path, Curve Path, Laurel Path, and return by several interconnecting un-named trails.  Mostly frozen/thawing ground with little ice or mud made hiking enjoyable.

WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR HIKE: low 30s and overcast
OTHER COMMENTS (problems, views, terrain, etc.) Toward end of the hike, three hikers became separated from the group because of a miscommunication about an in-and-out trail.  Their absence was reported by the sweep and they were directly located and led to the trailhead.
